Construction accounting in Hall County, Georgia.
Bookkeeping, job costing, WIP schedules and tax work for Gainesville and Hall County contractors, in English or Spanish, from a licensed CPA firm. Hablamos su idioma, y también el de su banco.
Hall County is home to one of the largest Hispanic communities in Georgia: about 31% of its 226,568 residents, by Census Bureau estimates for 2025, a bigger share than Gwinnett's. If you run your construction company in Spanish, we'll do your monthly accounting, job costing, tax planning and bonding prep in Spanish too, and hand your bank and surety financial statements in the English they expect.
The Hall County Market
What does Hall County's construction market look like?
It's growing fast for a county outside the core of metro Atlanta. Census Bureau estimates show Hall at 226,568 residents in July 2025, up about 23,800 from the 2020 base, the seventh-biggest gain in the state. Gainesville has passed 49,000 people. The sharpest change is in the south end of the county: Flowery Branch is up about 40% since 2020 and Oakwood about 50%.
Public money is following the people. The county's August 2026 SPLOST update shows SPLOST VIII collections running 50% above projections, about $326 million collected against $217 million projected, with $71.9 million put into road resurfacing and improvements as of April 2025. The next program, SPLOST IX, is a $440 million plan. Its largest single project is a $125 million judicial complex expansion, and its current priorities include Spout Springs Road Phase II and a new South Hall Park.
For a trade contractor, that adds up to more residential work in South Hall and more public jobs that come with bonds, retainage and slow pay applications. Both reward the company whose books are already clean when the opportunity shows up.
Bilingual Practice
Why does working in Spanish matter so much here?
About 31% of Hall County residents are Hispanic or Latino, according to the Census Bureau's 2025 estimates. That's the third-highest share of any county in Georgia, behind only Whitfield and Echols, and well above Gwinnett at about 25%. In people, it's roughly 70,000.
When an owner thinks and negotiates in Spanish, a monthly report written in accounting English doesn't help much. We walk through the numbers in Spanish: what the job cost report is saying, why a job shows as overbilled, what the surety is going to ask about. Then the financial statements go out in the English your bank, your general contractor and your surety read. Nothing gets lost in the middle.
Si usted prefiere trabajar en español, todo el servicio está disponible en su idioma: contabilidad mensual, costos por obra, impuestos y preparación para fianzas. Conozca nuestro servicio de CPA bilingüe para construcción o de contabilidad en español.
Worked Example
What does a WIP schedule show a Hall County subcontractor?
Here's a concrete subcontractor with three open jobs at month end. Percent complete is cost to date divided by estimated total cost, and earned revenue is that percent times the contract.
Job
Contract
Cost to date / est. total cost
Earned
Billed
Over (under) billed
A: residential slabs
$300,000
$150,000 / $240,000 = 62.5%
$187,500
$210,000
$22,500
B: retail pad
$500,000
$320,000 / $400,000 = 80%
$400,000
$360,000
($40,000)
C: sidewalks and curb
$200,000
$40,000 / $160,000 = 25%
$50,000
$60,000
$10,000
Total
$1,000,000
$637,500
$630,000
($7,500)
Overall the company looks close to even, just $7,500 underbilled. Job by job it's a different story. Job B has $40,000 of finished work nobody has billed, which is cash already spent on concrete and labor. That's what a WIP schedule is for, and you can run your own jobs through our WIP calculator.
Permits
Who issues building permits in Hall County?
It depends on where the job sits. Hall County's Building Inspections Division, which has been around since 1972, works from the third floor of the Government Center at 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville, and grading or clearing work there also needs a Land Disturbance Permit from the county's Engineering Department. Inside city limits, though, Braselton, Buford, Clermont, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Gillsville, Lula and Oakwood each have their own jurisdiction and inspection department.
A subcontractor working in three of those places is juggling three permit processes and three inspection calendars. We put those costs on the job they belong to, so your bids reflect what work in each town really costs.

Who issues building permits in Hall County?
For unincorporated Hall, the county's Building Inspections Division at 2875 Browns Bridge Road in Gainesville. Braselton, Buford, Clermont, Flowery Branch, Gainesville, Gillsville, Lula and Oakwood have their own inspection departments, so it depends on where the job is.
What's an underbilling, and why should I care?
It's work you've done and paid for but haven't billed yet. It shows up on a WIP schedule when your percent complete is ahead of your billings. A big underbilling means your cash is sitting in the job, and a pattern of them is one of the first things a surety asks about.
