Tax Services

The best tax outcome never happens in April.

By the time April arrives, the year is already locked. The strategic decisions that change a tax outcome (entity structure, depreciation elections, retirement plan timing, R&D documentation, multi-state planning) all had to happen in the preceding twelve months. Most CPA firms still treat tax as a reactive, once-a-year task. We do not.

Xtrategist runs tax as a year-round strategy. We plan ahead. We model decisions before they happen. We preserve every credit, deduction, and election available to your situation. And when it is time to file, the return is a confirmation of strategy already executed, not a scramble.

Frequently Asked

Tax strategy questions, answered.

When should I start thinking about my tax strategy for the year?
In January, not April. The strategies that actually reduce taxes — Section 179, retirement contributions, entity elections, accountable plans — require planning during the year, not at filing time. We meet quarterly with planning clients.
What is Section 179 and how much can it save me?
Section 179 allows businesses to deduct the full cost of qualifying equipment in the year it is placed in service, up to the annual IRS limit — which the One Big Beautiful Bill Act raised substantially. For a contractor buying a $200,000 piece of equipment, that can mean deducting the full $200,000 in year one instead of depreciating it over several years.
Do you handle multi-state tax filings?
Yes. This is one of our core specialties. Construction contractors and remote-team technology companies often have nexus in multiple states, and we handle the full multi-state compliance burden.
